Software Technology Necessary Fashion Design
My name is Kathy Jade and this is my story of how technology put me at the helm of fashion industry in my country.
I’m an advent lover of technology and I usually appraise myself with all the changes and modifications which come in handy to simplify my work as a designer. In the Fashion industry, I’ve created several products for the ladies, but of late I decided to concentrate on ladies’ handbags and beauty accessories.
This is one field that I’ve excelled so well because of the power of technology in creating various designs and inputting special visual effects, amazing patterns and textures which appeal to my customers. This has always made my clients satisfied because they can get value for their money.
Various Types of Designs
The start though was not an easy one. I endured a lot of pain and at one point I almost gave up. I established my first fashion outlet back in the 90’s and the competition was fierce, however much I tried to impress my clients, I failed because I couldn’t come up with fancy designs that appealed to my target clients.
This meant even if I expended all my efforts in marketing my wares, still they were not saleable in a manner which would be worthy all the efforts that I was investing in them. This always made me feel that I had ventured in an industry not meant for me to the point of parking my bags and just giving up.
I don’t know what kept me from not quitting because each day was a challenge on its own and the money that I had invested also seemed a mystery recovering it. I was not making profit for the better part of my being in the industry.
I vividly recall the day that I almost gave up for good. That day, there were some clients who had been referred to me by my friend and I had worked for almost a fortnight as I brainstormed the best designs which would impress them on the appointment date. They wanted some unique attire for wedding purposes and I thought that I had in store something that they couldn’t resist.
They did show up as scheduled, but to my surprise that weren’t slightly impressed by my designs. For the hour or so they were at my place of work, I tried to convince them that I could do the modifications that they wanted but at the end they decided that I wasn’t reliable.
Design To Success
I felt downtrodden after they left and couldn’t take it anymore. I had a lot of bills to pay and no clients. The following week, I never opened the outlet but stayed indoors at my house completely stressed out. During one of those days, I saw an advert on cable TV about an upcoming Fashion Expo in my town. I could have dismissed it but something in me urged me to attend it. This hope made me re-open the outlet the following week as I awaited the Expo to take place.
The day finally came and as I planned I attended the two days Expo. Surprising, I was amazed by the crazy designs showcased and also was able to network and talk to other fashion designers. We discussed a lot and managed to make friends with a few who I also took their contacts.
There was one lady who impressed me so much. She was still in college but had an exhibition at the Expo. Her designs were really awesome and beautiful, and after chatting with her and explaining my predicament, she offered to work with me on a part-time basis at my outlet.
She never let me down and for the next six or so months of working, there was a lot of changes as we were able to come up with incredible designs which impressed the clients. As per our agreement, we eventually started a company together which is a success to date.
